MCRE-based finite element model updating: Cast3M implementation

In structural engineering, the search for computational models capable of making realistic predictions capturing varied physical phenomena while maintaining simplicity and reliability has gained wide attention scientific community. Some outcomes this effort are finite element model updating techniques, which consists using inverse analysis to find values set input parameters. The Modified Constitutive Relation Error (MCRE) proved be efficient in many engineering applications. central idea technique is formulate parameter identification as a well-posed optimization problem. general, each new MCRE application, formulations need deduced implemented. Despite specifics case, there standard features that can abstracted placed single framework. present work, we abstract materialize those into framework Cast3M (an open-source high-level toolbox elements computation). Using typical examples from test framework’s efficiency highlight its limitations. results show proposed code allows parameters models, such stiffness, long geometric linearity conditions remain valid. addition, elastic inter-element interfaces included without significant changes. benefits study twofold: (i) source codes made available used learning support, particular newcomers, (ii), it starting point developments field MCRE-based approaches.
